Biomaterials present compelling possibilities in apparel and accessory design, production, and retail. Once siloed approaches to the business of fashion are being replaced by ecosystems of expertise with the collective agency to tackle critical sustainability issues.

In this session I’ll be joined by Prof. Carole Collet to discuss how leading-edge research and development suggests some seminal biomaterial concepts may shape the future of fashion.

Carole is Professor in Design for Sustainable Futures and Director of Maison/0 [the Central Saint Martins – LVMH creative platform for regenerative luxury originally set up in 2017]. She is also co-director of the Design & Living Systems Lab Research Group at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London. Her recent shows include the Pompidou Centre (La Fabrique du Vivant 2019), The Biotopia Museum (2020-21), andThe CID Grand Hornu (Plant Fever 2020-21).
